Derby’s New CD!

"DOWN HOMER" is my second CD and has a couple of my favorite traditional tunes (Blues Come To Stay and Columbus Stockade), some covers (Fool's Paradise and Key To The Highway), and two tunes written by local musicians (Down East Medley and Whiskey-eyed Mornings). I have tried to be more self sufficient by including more original music, vocal and instrumental. Great Island Ferry is a tune that came to mind watching the ferry crossing Core Sound from Davis to Core Banks while Isabel Winding reminds me of the devastation caused by Hurricane Isabel in September of 2003. My Pilot And My Guide brings to mind the recovery effort and all of the help and sacrifice offered by friends, family, and total strangers, too numerous to mention, which truly helped restore my faith in my fellow man. In-laws is a song I wrote for my wife's parents for their constant support and encouragement throughout our marriage and the title track, Down Homer is a tribute to my wife JoAnn.

I have tried to capture the flavor of a slower paced life and the wonderful people in the Down East area of Carteret County that we love so much. We are truly blessed. I hope you enjoy the music."
